My Daily Journal
Each day students will begin the day by writing in a journal. The student's will be required to answer a question that is placed on the Smartboard each day. This will be the first thing they do when they come in the room and should require less than five minutes for them to complete.
The question requires them to answer a pre-determined question in written form. The purpose behind the journal writing is to improve reading, writing skills, reinforce instruction, increase knowledge about current events and to develop new ways to communicate with others. I have students show me their responses each day. I provide them instant feedback and verbal encouragement. Journals are a great way to reinforce classroom instruction and maintain a daily routine for many students who do not like surprises. Students are required to write the question and the response. Journals are written under the following headings:
