I hope that you all had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to a fresh and rewarding school year. My name is Stephanie Yancey and I am the school counselor who runs social skills groups. I will be providing counseling services as determined to be part of your son or daughter’s schedule at his/her last I.E.P. meeting.
According to Scholastic, studies show that the most important skills to learn in the beginning of the school year are social including cooperation, self-control, confidence, independence, curiosity, empathy, and communication.
The counseling program is designed to be skill based, meaning that during each session a specific skill area will be worked on depending on your child’s needs. Some examples of skill areas are anger management, problem solving, self-esteem, character education, and learning to deal with feelings in a healthy way. Progress reports based on IEP goals will be sent home each quarter at the end of marking periods.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments please contact me anytime during the school year. My email address is email@example.com or you can also contact me via phone at (315) 785-3897.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
