Laws that Protect the Personal Identifiable Information (PII) of students:

• Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
• Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
• Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA)
• Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

State laws, such as N.Y. Education Law 2-d and the related regulations of the N.Y. State Commissioner of Education, as well as the DOE's Chancellor's Regulation A-820, protect the confidentiality of your child's information.
